Although I haven’t been keeping track, it’s been more than 2,000 days since Rihanna’s last studio album, Anti, and more than 900 days since she last appeared on a 2020 single, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Believe It.” I had decided to hang around just listening to Anti for the rest of my life (not exactly a terrible sentence), until the 34-year-old musician released “Lift Me Up” at midnight on Oct. 28. I had no idea that Rih’s new motherhood would speed up her production schedule. The new song, which serves as the album’s lead track, was co-written by Rihanna, Tims, Ryan Coogler, and Swedish musician Ludwig Goransson. It is a melodious and passionate song.
